WhatsApp iPhone Interface Gets More Modern, Using a Liquid Glass Design

Technology-Portfolio.Net - WhatsApp is once again preparing interface changes for its app on the iOS platform. This time, the Liquid Glass design language will be expanded to the image editor section as well as the progress bar on the video player.
WhatsApp is developing the Liquid Glass look for more interface elements. These changes have been implemented in the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS.
This new design was first applied more broadly to WhatsApp on iOS after undergoing testing for more than six months. Even so, the company is still continuing to develop its implementation across various other parts of the app.
One of the sections receiving an update is the image editor—a feature that allows users to edit photos, videos, and GIFs before sharing them.
Going forward, the buttons for adding text, drawing, and inserting stickers will adopt a look that follows the Liquid Glass design language. This change makes the editor elements feel more consistent with WhatsApp's latest interface.
Video Player
In addition, WhatsApp is also preparing changes to the video player. The progress bar that shows the duration and playback position of the video will feature a new Liquid Glass-style design.
This update continues WhatsApp's efforts to apply the design language to more features. Previously, WhatsApp had also tested a similar look for the voice note player, message reactions, and context menus.
Although these changes have already been found in the beta version, general users cannot try them directly yet. 9to5Mac mentioned that the image editor feature and the new progress bar are still in internal development and have not yet been released for public beta testing.
So far, there is no official information regarding the release schedule for the new look to all WhatsApp users on iPhone.
Expand the Implementation of Liquid Glass
WhatsApp is also continuing to expand the implementation of Liquid Glass beyond the iOS ecosystem. This design language had previously begun to be developed for the WhatsApp app on iPadOS and macOS.
This step demonstrates WhatsApp's commitment to gradually aligning its app interface with Apple's distinctive design language. For iPhone users, this change will make more parts of the WhatsApp app feature the transparent and layered appearance characteristic of Liquid Glass.
